Shapewear vs. NightLift

What’s the problem with shapewear?

Shapewear has become a big part of today’s fashion, including things like compression based athletic wear and Spanks and even corsets. People use shapewear for a number of reasons, for instance to smooth out curves and improve the way they look in outfits or using compression technology to improve athletic performance. But, according to the LA Times and several doctors, tight clothing may be doing your body more harm than good.

Because shapewear is so tight, the compression can lead to gastroenterological issues and even neurological issues like nerve damage. One condition in particular is called meralgia paresthetic, a “painful burning and tingling in the thighs when there is too much pressure on nerves that run through the groin,” that, according to neuroligst Orly Avitzur, usually occurs with people who gain weight too quickly or pregnant women. However, the condition is coming up more and more as a result of shapewear. Tight garments like shapewear can also increase acid reflux, urinary problems, and irritable bowel syndrome.

By now you might be asking, “Isn’t NightLift shapewear?”

In a way, the NightLift does act in similar aspects to shapewear in that it is a garment that helps to improve a certain aspect of your body. But there are many differences that make the NightLift less “shapewear” and more “Protective Wear.” In contrast to shapewear, the NightLift bra is a bra for each of your breasts and not one that treats them as a single unit. NightLift doesn’t rely on painful underwires and overly compressive elastic, but rather a uniquely designed and comfortable B.U.S.T technology that protects your breasts against gravity NLblack2and isn’t constricting or tight. Plus, the fit of the NightLift is adjustable, not to be tight on your body, but to fit snuggly and comfortably and specifically to your breasts.

Shapewear is compressive and could lead to damage of your abdominal organs and nerves if worn too often or too long, but the NightLift is designed to protect your breasts from future damage while not affecting other parts of your body. The NightLift Collection is made to fight gravity, not your body.

Remember: taking care of your body doesn’t have to involve potentially harmful compression and tight garments; comfort is key! For full protection and total comfort that helps your body and your breasts, check out our full NightLift Collection
